Privacy Notice

Last updated 13 August 2026

This notice explains what personal information SGS Plumbing & Heating collects about you, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have over it. It is written to meet our obligations under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

SGS Plumbing & Heating (Sutherland Gas Services) is the data controller for the information described here. That means we decide why and how it is used.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use cookies. We do not store anything on your device, we do not use analytics, and there are no advertising or social media tracking pixels anywhere on the site. That is why you have not been asked to accept any cookies — there are none to accept.

Our fonts are served from our own website rather than from Google or any other font service, so no third party is told that you visited us.

If you click through to our Facebook page, you leave this website and Facebook's own privacy policy applies from that point.

What we collect, and why

When you contact us or request a quote

If you call, email, message us or fill in a form on this site, we collect the details you give us — typically your name, phone number, email address, the address of the property and a description of the work you need.

We use this to reply to you, to quote for the work, to arrange an appointment and to carry out the job. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and once work is agreed, performance of that contract.

When we carry out gas work

Gas Safe registered engineers are required to keep records of the work carried out and the appliances worked on. Where that applies, our lawful basis is compliance with a legal obligation.

Website security

Our hosting provider processes technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver the site and protect it from attack. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure.

The booking form is protected against automated abuse by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that your browser is being used by a person. It does this without cookies and without tracking you, and it is run by Cloudflare — who already host this website — so no additional company learns that you visited.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

We may also share information where we are legally required to, for example with Gas Safe Register or with our insurers in the event of a claim.

How long we keep it

After that we delete it or render it anonymous.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details above. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
